LS-9209 presents, for the first time ever, the music of ROCK CITY. This group was the immediate precursor to the famous group, BIG STAR, and its members included both Christopher Bell and Jody Stephens of BIG STAR, as well as Thomas Dean Eubanks and Terry Manning. (Alex Chilton replaced Tom Eubanks as singer, and Andy Hummel became the bass player when the group morphed into Big Star.) The ROCK CITY album has long been rumoured to have been recorded, but until now, no one outside of the group has ever heard it! Also included are two tracks from a Thomas Dean Eubanks' solo effort, and one track by ICEWATER, basically the same group as ROCK CITY recording under the different name. Included in the packaging are several never-before-seen photos of all involved, including a shot of Christopher Bell playing live in ROCK CITY! Rock City by Rock City

LS-9210 is ROCKIN' MEMPHIS, a compilation of many artists who recorded rock music in Memphis in the '60's and 70's. An amazing collection of powerful mid-twentieth century rock, it includes such artists as BIG STAR, CARGOE, THE HOT DOGS, TERRY MANNING, THOMAS DEAN EUBANKS, ROCK CITY, VAN DUREN, MUD BLUFF, SMITH PERKINS SMITH, MARTIN MULL, and others. In fact, Christopher Bell's first professional recorded appearance is included here on "The One After 909." Many of the selections are released here for the first time ever, while others were only previously released on vinyl "in the day." The magic of Twentieth Century Memphis Music certainly lives on in this powerful compilation. This is a truly excellent collection of little-known powerhouse rock classics!

Recent releases include:

LS-9218 is IDIOT OPTIMISM by Van Duren. Van Duren is one of the seminal figures of the 1970's Memphis/Big Star rock scene. Van once auditioned to replace Chris Bell in Big Star, and was later in Chris' next band, The Baker Street Regulars. In 1978 Van "went north" with famed music writer Jon Tiven, and recorded his first solo album, ARE YOU SERIOUS? (this amazing classic will be released for the first time in the US on CD in 2004!) Then Van spent many months crafting his follow-up album, IDIOT OPTIMISM, only to see it unreleased because of differences with the company. For almost 25 years, this awesome album went totally unheard by the public. Now Lucky Seven Records are releasing IDIOT OPTIMISM for the first time in the USA and Europe, and all will find it well worth the wait! This album has been called by the press, "the greatest Power Pop album of all time not named RADIO CITY." The depth of Van's songs, coupled with the power of the musicianship, make for an amazing pop music statement. In addition to Van's great original songs, the album includes his definitive version of Chris Bell's pop masterpiece, "Make A Scene." IDIOT OPTIMISM is now available! Idiot Optimism by Van Duren

LS-9219 is STARVATION BOX, The Best of Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat. Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat have been on the music scene now for over twelve years, and have built a fan base worldwide. Their three Lucky Seven releases have shown an incredible depth of songwriting and playing, and their constant touring in the USA and Europe has garnered many admirers. Jim is also well known as the lead guitarist for George Thorogood, and he has often been included in "Top Ten Guitarists" lists of music publications. Now comes their best release ever! STARVATION BOX contains two distinct elements, both "The Best Of Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat" AND six brand new tracks, each deserving in its own right to be included in anyone's 'Best Of.' The coolest, most popular tracks from their first three albums - Radio Mojo, Shake and Bad Juju - are all included in one convenient package, and as a bonus the band also present six great new songs, including their arrangements of Elmore James' classic "U Gotta Move," Lightnin' Hopkins' "Lonesome Dog Blues," and four new Suhler originals. So once again, here come three of the hardest rocking musicians you will ever encounter! Starvation Box by Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat
