“Having grown up loving so much rock and roll––especially the early rock of greats like Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, and of course Elvis Presley––it was a real thrill when I was invited to play a concert for ‘Evening At Elvis,’ sponsored by The Mike Curb Music Institute. An added thrill was that the concert would be held in Elvis’ own house on Audubon Drive in Memphis. This was the first house ‘The King’ bought in 1956 with the first money he’d made with such great hits as ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and ‘Hound Dog.’

All of us in the band were very excited to see the photos everywhere of Elvis and his friends, band and family right in the same places we were standing…and playing! There was the upright piano that Elvis had played, there was the swimming pool where he’d splashed around, amazing. And, having a standing-room-only crowd of enthusiastic music lovers turned a special evening into a magical one.

Throughout the performance, I kept thinking back to years earlier, falling asleep as a young child with a transistor radio next to my pillow, blasting out Elvis tunes. I’m so happy to share this remarkable performance which has now become my first live record. Big thanks to all those who’ve made this possible, including my band members (below). Listen to the sneak peek at the link above, and get ready for the release of the album in ONE WEEK!”

In addition to owning and running the world-famous
Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas, Terry Manning’s career has spanned decades where he has consistently partnered with the uppermost echelon of the music world’s elite. Now, Manning steps forward as a recording artist himself, in walking to the other side of the glass for his new album, Heaven Knows.

"I got into music initially as an artist, and to be an artist," says a smiling Manning. "I just got diverted somewhere along the way in making the records for, you know, like a hundred other artists."

The near-legendary status and cult-success of Manning's first record as a recording artist in 1970,
Home Sweet Home, left Manning with an even deeper desire over the years to return to his early artist-roots. "Through the years there's always been this nagging inner voice asking: 'When are you going to get back to doing your own songs, and making your own recordings?' This new record is me answering that inner voice as genuinely as I can, and with all my heart."

Manning's recent road back to being the artist he started out as began in 2013, with his critically acclaimed tribute album to mentor Bobby Fuller,
West Texas Skyline. Of the album, All Music Guide writes, "Without sounding like a revivalist, Manning digs deep… West Texas Skyline is not only one man's tribute to a criminally underrated artist, but a heartfelt articulation of rock & roll's roots."

Many of those roots come into play in strong fashion on this new record as well––the echoes and influences of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Big Star, Al Green, and Otis Redding––each and all readily recognizable throughout the nine originals and four re-imagined classics on
Heaven Knows.

"Going in to create my own music and sing my own songs for the first time in such a long time, I was pretty emotional about it. I wanted to explore the human soul, and delve into the depths." Manning adds, "People have such a deep felt need for loving and being loved, and more than anything I wanted to try to capture that overarching human emotion in these songs and with this album."

Manning's emotional connection and inspirational commitment to the album is matched by a commitment of perspiration as well: in addition to producing, engineering, mixing, and mastering
Heaven Knows, Manning also played most of the instruments and sang all the vocals on the new record. "These are the kinds of things I do on so many of the records I work on, it felt right to do the same for a record of my own."

The powerful statement this new album makes––both through the songs, and by the artist who's performing them––does answer that inner voice from long ago, and it does so once and for all: Terry Manning is an artist to be reckoned with no matter which side of the glass he's standing on, and
Heaven Knows proves it.

13 October, 2013

ECR Music Group and Terry Manning's Lucky Seven Records are proud to announce their new partnership––one that promises to provide great new music in the coming years.

"Working with Blake Morgan makes perfect sense on so many levels," says Manning. "We go 'way back' together…Blake and I worked hand in hand recording his first major label release Anger's Candy some years ago, and have remained good friends and musical 'sympaticompatriots' since that time. His recent successes with ECR have only heightened the practicality of our working more closely together."

In addition to owning and running the world-famous Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas, Terry Manning's career has spanned decades where he has consistently partnered with the uppermost echelon of the music world's elite, including work with Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Isaac Hayes, the Staple Singers, Molly Hatchet, George Thorogood, Widespread Panic, Shakira, and Lenny Kravitz

Beginning in October 2013, Blake Morgan's ECR Music Group will provide distribution, marketing, promotional services, and expertise to Terry Manning's Lucky Seven Records.

"Terry has been a mentor and dear friend since the very beginning of my career––which he single-handedly jump-started, by the way," says ECR owner and founder Blake Morgan. "Having him and Lucky Seven join our ECR family of artists and labels is an absolute thrill, both personally and professionally. Big things lie ahead."

First to be released under this new partnership was the amazing single ”God Only Knows”  (now contained within the “Heaven Knows” album).  Terry Manning has recorded his take on one of the most memorable love songs in all pop music history, paying tribute to the Wilson brothers and The Beach Boys. Using only piano and vocal with alto flute from Christine Gangelhoff, Manning imagines the song in a slower, extremely personal setting. "God Only Knows" is the first single to be released from Manning's upcoming album Heaven Knows, a collection of emotionally charged love songs (released worldwide July 2014).

Coupled with Manning's new single and upcoming Heaven Knows album release is an additional and equally exciting project from Manning, West Texas Skyline. This high-energy rock album was recorded as a tribute to Manning's late friend and mentor Bobby Fuller. West Texas Skyline was released worldwide October 15th, 2013, on Lucky Seven/ECR Music Group. On October 12, Manning co-headlined the annual Border Legends Concert in El Paso, and premiered the West Texas Skyline album, as well as the "God Only Knows" single, in live performance!

Within two weeks of release in October,
West Texas Skyline shot to the #5 Album on APD’s Top 50 radio Chart, with “I Fought The Law” tearing up to become the #18 single on radio!

With a new single, two new albums, and even more new music on the way, the months ahead promise to be a hallmark launch for the new Lucky Seven/ECR Music Group partnership, and for Manning and Morgan.
